Species Specific_055 (fight) speaks directly to the fossilizations found in Pompeii capturing locals in either fight or flight mode upon seeing the explosion of Mount Vesuvius. This work was 3D printed by Fonderia Nolana, near Naples, and was produced from a 3D motion capture video of New York-based dancer Meredith Glisson performing a defense response to an oncoming threat. Her movements were captured in 120 frames per second of video from a 360 degree camera array. What you see here is approximately one second of motion that has been sculpted to reveal the nesting of her positions in time.
